It’s been too long since I did a Monday Morning Column. But I’m trying to keep it diverse on where I publish content. My focus for 2016 is easily my YouTube Channel, which I’m delighted to say is well over 8k now and on it’s way to the 10k by DDay (6th June) target that I’ve set myself. I’ve also recently (re)started the podcast. As well as making an effort to get more MMA content out on MMA Latest. The YouTube channel is really my focus over there; we’re getting fantastic hits and have some great programming over there, but I can’t seem to get the subscribers to grow. Not at the rate I’d like anyway.
Obviously the big event in the last week or so has been the FA Cup Semi Final. First time I’ve been able to take Jayden to a competitive game there (we went to the Charity Shield in 2013, but it’s not the same, is it?) and what a game it was! We recorded a brilliant match day vlog on FullTimeDevils, that you really should check out if you’ve not already. Really sums up everything about the day, the emotions, the journey, the celebrations. It’s excellent. Something I’ll be looking back on for years to come, I’m sure. Although. I do hope I am able to better that in May as I’m pretty sure we’ll be doing the same thing for the final.
The game? Well. We started very well. I think we allowed Everton into the game somewhat in the second half, but I guess that’s to be expected with the players they have in the squad. Incredible stop from Spanish Dave for the penalty, though. I think as soon as he saved that, I knew we were going through. Even though we did try and make it interesting late on, once they had equalised. What can you say about Anthony Martial? The guy is an absolute dead-eyed killer. He’s so composed I’m not even sure he’s got a heart beat. That boy will be very, very special. The finish was sublime. What a way to win any game of football, let alone a semi final. I didn’t realise it was so late in the game. Last time I looked at the clock I remember saying to Squawka Dave, “7 minutes to go!”. So it would have been a good ten mins before Martial eventually put us through. Judging by the scenes of the player celebrations in the crowd there could be a real team spirit forming amongst some of our new additions and promotions. The confidence Rashford is showing with the ball at his feet is mind blowing. He legit doesn’t give a fuck what the stage is does he? I saw him at an U18s game shortly after the Arsenal game and asked him if he was nervous making his debut and then repeating it, and he said he wasn’t. I’m not certain I fully believed him at the time, but on reflection, he might actually have been serious.
Can’t let today go without mentioning the fact the Scousers have now gone longer than we did without a title. 26 sweet, sweet years. Liverpool were reigning Champions in the first season I began watching football at Old Trafford. My first game was September 1990. So I’ve never known Liverpool win the league. I’d love that to remain, if I’m honest. Ha. I only caught the tail end of the wait as a United fan, clearly didn’t know what it meant, truly, when we won the title in 1993. It just felt quite normal to me. It obviously wasn’t as I remember the scenes around the ground after we had won it, I can’t believe how dated those images look now! But I know the wait hurt my uncles and my Dad and I could tell what it meant to the older reds around me. I hope it’s hurting the scousers as much as that. It must be awful for them to have been sat so secure on 18 titles while we had a mere 7 and we’ve overtaken them. I’m confident we’ll get 6 before they do, too. So We’ll totally eclipse them. I hope Klopp gets the ‘fair treatment’ we’ve seen Van Gaal get next season, if he doesn’t start off well. If this was United, the press would be all over it today. I’ve seen nothing from mainstream media about this. Nothing.
Thanks for reading. Check out the other posts on here; there’s the podcast, my YouTube videos and all sorts of stuff. Hit me up on Twitter, too, we’ve got a Forum on MUFCLatest, but it’s kinda quiet. Talk to me about what you’d wanna see happening with that and I’ll make it happen.
